Get to know Urologist Dr. Jerome R. Pietras, who serves patients throughout the State of New Jersey.

Dr. Pietras is an established urologist who is trained to diagnose, treat, and manage diseases of the urinary tract and male reproductive system, including prostatitis, kidney stones, and urinary tract infections.

He is affiliated with a number of hospitals and medical centers in the state of New Jersey, including Virtua Berlin, Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation – Chester, Virtua Voorhees Hospital, Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital, Jefferson Washington Township Hospital, Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Jefferson Stratford Hospital, and AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

After graduating with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1972, Dr. Pietras went on to further his training. He served his residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

A Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the doctor is board-certified in urology by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS).  The AOBS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
